I have just heard about this film and got confused because it sounded very similar to one that I saw a few years ago, the name of which I struggle to remember, that was about Shakespeare's family(which was an interesting film, almost a murder-mystery without the murder.) It's good to know that it is worthwhile visually as that is half the point of film in my book. I completely relate to what you are saying about ambiguity. I dislike stories that are completley black and white, pure hero and pure villain. A lot of Jacobean drama has this ambiguity, I think this is one of the reasons it is so timeless.
