We live in a small Irish town, and like many other Irish towns it has all sorts of old, intriguing buildings. One such building is a grand Georgian house, with an imposing red door, and right next to it on a black plaque, ornate with colorful flowers, is written Irish School of Herbal Medicine.
Well now, as you can imagine, that sparked my interest big time, but I never bothered to look it up, instead I let my imagination run wild regarding the activities that might go on in there.
Of course, my favorite scenario was that there lives and works a coven, and they do potions and spells and have eccentric looks. I am still quite fond of this image.
Recently, in a moment of procrastination, I started looking up things online, and one of them was the above mentioned. To my surprise it is an actual, proper school that will give you various degrees, one of which, after four years of study, at around 3600 euro per year, is that of Master Herbalist.
Oh, how that sounds! Master Herbalist! I love it! I always dreamt of being a doctor or something similar, but I have to say that Master Herbalist sounds so much better!
I do not have it in me to do another degree, but I love the idea of this and for sure it will creep into my writing, my witchy stories or maybe the reality based stories. I never know where a piece of info like this, that I store for later, will end up.
Inspired by this course I started looking for tarot courses, not that I plan to take any, I enjoy learning by myself, in my own rhythm, but I wanted to see what is out there. I found some, but the one that I looked at in more depth is one that will turn you in a, you guessed it, Master of Tarot.
Ah! That, I like the sound of!
Still, I do not want to take a course, but in a few years from now, I might just label myself as master of something, till then, like the poet says:
‘I am the master of my fate
I am the captain of my soul’
