I have started my Substack more than two years ago. I have 256 posts written, 86 drafts, 301 subscribers, out of which one paid, thank you TCinLA for your kind support over this time.
I love my substack and it has been a great motivation for me to write, as I am so easily distracted. It is always easier to do the ‘bad’ thing, than the right one, like write, exercise, eat well, not buy clothes … And while most often I can come up with a story or an idea, sometimes, like now, I draw a blank. Sometimes stories just play hard to get, so, at times I am stuck!
I still want to write something though, I don’t want my substack and my subscribers to feel abandoned, so, as this week I don’t have a story I thought to write about my substack and the experience of having my substack.
I have been writing since forever, and over the years my stories, my poems (yes, there were some of them too!), even a play, got lost in the transit of life, so one thing that my substack did was that it allowed me to keep in one place all that I have written these past few years, which is an amazing thing for me.
To have written 256 pieces of something and to have them in one place is truly great, and it enabled my wonderful better half to create a selection and actually print a short story book for me. As a birthday present, no ISBN or anything, but so wonderful to hold a book in my hands and to know it is mine. I hoped, but never truly believed that is possible.
To be able to share my writing so easily, is another amazing opportunity my substack gave me. It is such a wonderful world we live in, in which a writer can create something and then, a few minutes later, share it with their readership. Mind boggling!
I am grateful for all the likes, dislikes and comments I received. I write because it is what comes naturally to me to do, I don’t do it for the money or the glory, I don’t do it for any other reason than that I need to write, I want to write, and, sometimes, I even enjoy it.
I like that my substack forced me to some kind of discipline to produce something, anything each week, because otherwise I know for sure my output would have been much lower, and some really great stories would not have seen the light of day.
Some of my stories are good, some are bad, all of them could be better, and writing each week for sure improved my writing, and also made me a bit more confident in my craft.
More than ten years ago I went through a phase when I was writing quite a few therapeutic stories, and recently I had the chance to read some of them. They were so good! And I was surprised, as, I remember when I was writing them, I always felt they were so bad.
I am hoping it might be the same now. I think what I write is not good, but actually it is decent.
I still have a book or two in me, and they are such wonderful hopes and dreams.
Thank you all for reading my stories and my thoughts and here is to many more to come!

You’re an inspiration!
